Support for English as an additional language (EAL)
If English is not your first language, you may need additional support in school.
The Department of Education provides additional educational resources to schools for pupils who are learning English as an additional language (EAL) in primary school.

A school may request a review of the proposed allocation for pupils requiring EAL support.
Language test
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has Primary and Post-Primary Assessment Kits on its website. The kits can be used to help teachers assess the level of English that non-English-speaking pupils may have.
